Hiking holiday in Alsace

5 Days - 4 Nights

Alsace is a real paradise for hikers and nature lovers. With over 17,000 km of marked trails, there is sure to be a suitable walk for seasoned hikers or hiking enthusiasts. You walk among the vineyards where the best Rieslings, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noirs and Gewürztraminers come from. Here you will enjoy silence, beautiful panoramas and fragrant forests interspersed with picturesque villages with beautiful half-timbered houses, imposing castle ruins and characteristic fortified towns.

Day 1: Along the banks of the Moselle to the Rhine Valley

During your outward journey, you will make a stopover in Metz, located on the banks of the Moselle River. The cozy medieval city center with charming squares, beautiful city gardens, the gigantic Gothic cathedral and the unique Centre Pompidou are definitely worth a visit. You continue driving through valleys and villages full of flowers to the hotel where you will stay for 4 nights.

Day 2: Explore nature and vineyards along winding paths

Today you head into nature for a walking distance of your choice. Among the vineyards, picturesque villages with cobblestone streets, you continue walking past babbling streams and castle ruins. Don't forget to enjoy the breathtaking panoramas!

Day 3: A fairytale forest walk

A half-hour's drive from the hotel brings you to Saverne, in a less touristy part of the Vosges Mountains. In this northern part of the mountain massif you will find deep forests where numerous quiet hiking trails await you. A beautiful trail will take you past a hidden 25-meter-high waterfall and take you past the Château de Nideck. This castle became famous because the Grimm brothers recorded a story there for their famous book of fairy tales. From here you will enjoy a magnificent view of the valley.

Day 4: City walk in Strasbourg

Today you will walk through the capital of Alsace, Strasbourg. Also called the European capital because of the European Parliament and the Council of Europe. Strasbourg is a true delight for your eyes and your taste buds, a delightful alternation of cultural visits and gastronomic discoveries. Make sure to discover the most famous neighbourhood "La Petite France" and also take a trip along the River Ill, the river that embraces the heart of the city around which the European institutions are built.

Day 5: Going home

Your hiking holiday in Alsace is over. You will return home with a satisfied feeling and tired legs. You can also choose to extend your holiday a few more days in the hotel to enjoy the Spa or in another Caractère hotel of your choice. We will be happy to help you with this.
