Day 1: Rosyth, Edinburgh

Located on the southern shore of the Firth of Forth opposite Rosyth, Edinburgh has been the capital of Scotland since the 15th century. Although no longer the country's largest city, it remains the political, religious and cultural focus of Scottish pride. Edinburgh Castle, in the city center, is one end of the world-famous Royal Mile that leads through the Old Town to the Palace of Holyrood, the Queen's official residence in Scotland. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is a wonderful place to store and sample local delicacies such as haggis and the whiskey for which Scotland is famous. Embarkation is from 4 pm to 5 pm, departure at 11 pm.

Day 2: at sea

Today you will rest at sea and take advantage of the services and activities on board.

Day 3: Shetland Islands, Lerweck

In the small and charming capital of the Shetland Islands, you will discover a seafront full of old houses, narrow streets, quaint neighborhoods and a warm harbor atmosphere. To the north is Geopark Shetland, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Incredibly well-preserved archaeological sites and ruins prove that occupation of the islands dates back to the first Neolithic colonies. The Shetland Museum and Archives tells you all about the past. Two included excursions are: Lerwick walking tour or the treasures of the Shetland Islands.

Day 4 Kirkwall, Orkney

Kirkwall, meaning "church bay," is the capital of the Orkney Islands and an ideal stopover before continuing your journey to the Northern Isles. Sheltered in a wide bay, the lively town welcomes you with its charming cobbled alleys lined by old houses and craft stores. Tankerness House, the town's oldest house, is a sight not to be missed. But the true architectural treasure of the aptly named Kirkwall is its remarkable cathedral of red and gold stone. And because whiskey is inextricably linked to Scotland's identity, stop by the Highland Park Distillery for a highly educational visit. An included excursion is "The Archaeological Wonders of Orkney."

Day 5: Stornoway

Discover Lewis, the largest island in the Hebrides, considered the cradle of Gaelic culture. Here, heather-covered valleys and lochs stretch into infinity, and countless bird colonies have taken up residence in the long, jagged coastlines. Not far from Stornoway, the island's main town, built by the Vikings in the 9th century, stands one of Scotland's most prominent prehistoric sites: The Standing Stones of Callanish. These imposing stones, dating back more than 3,000 BC, were placed in a cross-shaped pattern according to the moon and stars. Their main purpose was to keep track of the seasonal cycles, as this was essential for farmers at the time. An island tour is an included excursion.

Day 6: Portree

Nestled in a beautiful bay, Portree reflects the splendor of the grandiose Isle of Skye and is also its main town. Apart from the charm of the colorful houses, the town's prime location on the banks of a loch makes it a very pleasant place to be. From the colorful harbor, teeming with local craft shops, you have great views of the surrounding hills. These two excursions are included: visit museum isle of skye or visit castle followed by visit to tannery.

Day 7: Fort William

Fort William, a port town on the eastern shore of Loch Linnhe, is sometimes described as the "Outdoor Capital of the UK." Because it sits at the foot of Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the British Isles, and close to the dramatic scenery of Glencoe, it is a popular destination for hikers and mountaineers. For those looking for a less adventurous experience, the nearby Ben Nevis Distillery offers tours and tastings. Old Fort and Old Inverlochy Castle are interesting historical sites. In the afternoon, continue on to Loch Linnhe. You cruise into the heart of picturesque landscapes where you admire formations of the magnificent mountains and valleys surrounding the loch, including the famous Ben Nevis. The pure waters of Loch Linnhe are teeming with marine life; among its faithful inhabitants you will find seals, among others. Three possible excursions are included: Glencoe and the Highlands, Wonders of the Highlands, Ben Nevis Distillery.

Day 8: Glasgow

In the heart of the Clyde Valley, the bustling city of Glasgow stands in stark contrast to the wild beauty of the surrounding countryside. The city's chessboard layout makes walking through the main thoroughfares easy: follow the flow and let the lively street atmosphere take you past the many Victorian monuments. Don't miss the collections on display in the many museums and art galleries. The Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is an excellent example.
