Frequently asked questions about this Denmark itinerary
What is the best time to visit Copenhagen and the island of Funen?
The ideal period is from May to September. In early summer (June), you enjoy the long Danish light evenings, perfect for food tours in Copenhagen. September is especially beautiful on Funen thanks to the harvest season in the orchards. Keep in mind that some small ferries and distilleries have reduced opening hours in the low season (November to March).
Do I need a rental car for the entire trip?
No, and that’s what makes this trip so convenient. In Copenhagen (days 1 to 4), you don’t need a car; the city is easy to explore on foot or by bike and you have a private driver for the initial transfers. You only pick up the rental car on day 5 for the journey to Funen, which saves you parking costs and stress in the city while giving you full freedom once you reach the Danish countryside and cross the Great Belt Bridge.
How demanding are the activities on Funen, such as bridgewalking and visiting Egeskov Castle?
The activities are well balanced and accessible to most travellers. Bridgewalking does not require technical experience but takes place at height, while visiting Egeskov Castle is a relaxed experience with time to explore the gardens and estate at your own pace.
