Profile

Looking for a short trip where you actually experience something? Then this fits perfectly. You see a lot, without it ever feeling rushed.

Day 1: Explore the surroundings

On arrival, check into your hotel just outside Bordeaux. Explore the area, relax in the spa or by your hotel's pool. If you can't wait to explore Bordeaux, you can take an evening stroll in Bordeaux before dining at one of your hotel's cosy restaurants.

Day 2: Visit Bordeaux and Cité du Vin

Your day starts with a visit on foot or by bike in the centre of Bordeaux together with a private guide. Rediscover the great monuments and cosy squares within the confines of the old city walls, the beautifully renovated student quarter and the Grosse Cloche. Admire the cathedral, the Palais Gallien and don't forget to taste the "Cannelés de Bordeaux", these dome-shaped cakes are often served with coffee and can be bought at any bakery. In the afternoon, visit La Cité du Vin, also called the "Guggenheim of Bordeaux", where you will learn all about the drink that put this region on the world map. At your own pace with audioguide, you will be taken on a journey of discovery through the world of vines, the wine-making process, stories and flavours as well as the fantastic architecture of this museum. The journey continues in the 'Bellevue' at 35 metres high with panoramic views over the city accompanied by a tasting that is a feast for the eyes and taste buds. You will end the day at one of the region's finest wine estates.

Day 3: Past vineyards and unique panoramas

Explore the vineyards of the Libournais at the wheel of a Citroën 2CV or a Classic Car. Along rural roads, enjoy unique panoramas and UNESCO-protected châteaux, towns and villages such as Libourne, Pomerol and medieval Saint-Emilion. Or cycle, with a guide, for a day along the Garonne River and among the vineyards of Bordeaux.
