Day 1: Arrival
Via direct flight, you arrive at Bergen airport. A private transfer awaits you and takes you to your first accommodation in this town, located in the middle of the Norwegian Fjords.
Day 2: Bergen
Today you will explore Bergen with a guide and discover what this city has to offer. You walk along the colourful Bryggen harbour district, take the cable car with stunning views of the Fjords or discover everything by boat. In short, this is the start of a very varied and challenging round trip.
Day 3: Bergen - Slovorn
Time to check out and continue driving to the next location, where you will spend three nights at a charming hotel in Slovorn. From Slovorn you will take the ferry to Urnes where you will find the oldest stave church in the world, built in 1130. Norwegian stave churches are the oldest preserved wooden churches within Christianity and consist of beautiful carvings. Often they were decorated inside with Viking themes where animals and dragons play a leading role.
Day 4: Jostedal
Today the largest glacier on mainland Europe is on the schedule. Afterwards you will learn all about this impressive national park in an exhibition. From Breheimsenteret you take a hike up and along this 487 square kilometer ice sheet.
Day 5: Sognefjord
Sognefjord is Norway's longest and deepest fjord with its length of 203 kilometers. You can choose to swim, kayak or book an excursion by RIB boat there. Nearby there are also beautiful hiking trails that are worthwhile.
Day 6: Vossevangen
You check out and drive on towards Vossevangen. Here you will explore the area from your hotel where you will have breathtaking views of the Lundarvatnet and forested mountains.
Day 7: Lundarvatnet - Stranda
You wake up to a breathtaking view of Lundarvatnet and the forested mountains. After breakfast you will meet your guide to go rafting on the Stranda or Raundal rivers. Given the amount of winter snow that melts in the summer months, the trips are sure to be challenging enough. The minimum age for this is 15 years. For families with younger children, we recommend visiting the climbing park, where there are several climbing routes and ziplines.
Day 8: Vossevangen
Your day starts in the town of Njardarheimr, located in the Viking Valley in Gudvangen. Stroll through the streets and learn about how the Vinkengen used to live, work and influence life out there. In the afternoon you will not explore the region from the water or from the air, but head out into nature with hiking boots or mountain bikes. From the hotel you can reach several routes that are clearly marked. If you like to use a guide, you can plan a tour together and learn more about the local fauna and flora. Other options include climbing, skydiving, paragliding or even skiing during the winter months.
Day 9: Flåm
Get ready for an absolute highlight of this trip. After an hour's drive, you'll reach Flåm. With a certified guide, you will take a kayak out onto the water in the Aurlandsfjord, who will teach you all the techniques so you can smoothly follow in the footsteps of the Vikings from the water. Don't forget to bring a waterproof camera, because your photos will be worth framing.
Day 10: Back home
Unfortunately, your trip is over. You check out and return the rental car at the airport in Sogndal or Sandane. You take the plane back home with a filled backpack full of great memories.
