13 Days - 12 Nights

Get ready for a journey through Mexico where ancient cultures and pristine landscapes complement each other. From the bustling metropolis of Mexico City to the colonial splendor of Puebla and Mérida, discover cities full of stories and vibrant markets. Along the way, admire the impressive Sumidero Canyon, hike through mystical Mayan cities such as Palenque and Uxmal, and explore the waterfalls of Roberto Barrios, hidden in the subtropical jungle.

  • An international passport is required, valid during stay with at least 2 blank pages.
  • A visa is not required.
  • Vaccinations for Polio, Tetanus and Hepatitis A are recommended. The yellow fever vaccination is mandatory if you have recently been in a region where yellow fever is prevalent. We recommend seeking advice from your family doctor or the Tropical Institute.

Day 1: Arrival in Mexico City

After arriving at the airport, you will meet a local guide and driver who will transfer you to an attractive boutique hotel in the center of the city. Here you will stay for three nights.

Day 2: Mexico City

You begin the day with a visit to the Museo del Templo Mayor, where the impressive finds from the ancient Aztec capital of Tenochtitlán come to life. See the 8-ton stone disc of moon goddess Coyolxauhqui and learn about Aztec rituals and sacrifices. Then stroll through the historic center, past the immense Zócalo, the Presidential Palace and the imposing Catedral Metropolitana. In the Museo Nacional de Antropología you will discover the deep-rooted history of Mexico. In the afternoon, trek to Xochimilco, a district with the unique floating gardens of the Aztecs. Board a colorful trajinera and explore the canals that are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 3: Mexico City

Your day begins at the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso, a museum full of history in the city's old town. Then walk to Plaza Santo Domingo, once the spiritual heart of colonial Mexico. At the Museo Nacional de Antropología, explore Mexico's rich pre-Columbian history in twelve exhibition rooms. Spend the afternoon in Chapultepec Park, a green oasis full of ancient trees, lakes and atmospheric market stalls.

Day 4: Mexico City - Puebla

After breakfast, visit Teotihuacán, the impressive pyramid complex that was once the largest city in the Americas. Later travel to Puebla, where colorful talavera tiles adorn colonial architecture. Explore the Plaza de la Constitución and admire the impressive cathedral before spending the night at an authentic boutique hotel in Puebla.

Day 5: Puebla - Oaxaca de Juárez

Today starts with a visit to the Jardín Botánico in Zapotitlán Salinas, a rugged nature reserve full of cacti and elephant foot trees, ideal for a short hike and picnic on a hillside with stunning views. Later you travel to Monte Albán, an important city of the Zapotecs and Mixtecs, beautifully situated on a flattened hilltop. You'll end the day with an overnight stay at a luxurious five-star hotel in Oaxaca.

Day 6: Oaxaca de Juárez

The morning begins at the Museo Cultural de Oaxaca, housed in a former Dominican monastery. Here admire goldsmith art from Monte Albán, including treasures from Tomb 7. Then stroll through the charming center of Oaxaca, with stops at the impressive Church of Santo Domingo de Guzmán, the lively Zócalo and other colorful markets that give the city its unique character.

Day 7: Oaxaca de Juárez - Tehuantepec

After breakfast, your private driver will take you to Santa María del Tule, where you will admire the iconic 2,000-year-old Ahuehuete tree. Next you will visit Mitla, a mysterious archaeological site full of symbolism and history. In Santiago Matatlán, discover how mezcal is made and taste this famous liqueur, complete with the traditional "worm." After a brief stop at Playa Cangrejo, where you will enjoy freshly caught seafood in a charming Las Palapas hut, you will travel on to Tehuantepec. In the evening, you will unwind at your hotel.

Day 8: Tehuantepec - San Cristóbal de las Casas

Today you will take a boat ride through the impressive Sumidero Canyon. The high rock walls, which reach up to 1,000 meters, are covered with ferns and mosses and are interspersed with waterfalls. Along the way you will spot exotic animals such as toucans, herons and small alligators. After this natural splendor, you will travel on to San Cristóbal de las Casas, where you will stay two nights in a charming boutique hotel.

Day 9: San Cristóbal de las Casas

You'll visit Chamula, where the unique church displays a fusion of Catholic and Mayan rituals. No chairs, but a floor covered with pine needles provides the backdrop for spiritual ceremonies. Then you will travel on to Zinacantán, a vibrant Tzotzil community where you will experience the local culture and visit the impressive colonial church. A day full of traditions and stories.

Day 10: San Cristóbal de las Casas - Palenque

On the way to Palenque, stop at the Roberto Barrios Waterfalls, hidden in the subtropical jungle of Chiapas. The turquoise blue waters and natural rock pools invite you to take a refreshing dip. After this green oasis, travel on and spend the night in a charming boutique hotel with a tropical garden.

Day 11: Palenque - Campeche

The day begins with a visit to the impressive Mayan city of Palenque, with highlights such as the Temple of the Inscriptions and the Grand Palace. Then you travel to Campeche, a port city with narrow streets and colorful colonial buildings, protected by the historic city wall. You spend the night in a stylish four-star hotel in the center.

Day 12: Campeche - Mérida

Today you visit Uxmal, one of the most beautiful Mayan sites with impressive terraces, plazas and decorated facades. Then you will arrive in Mérida, the colonial capital of Yucatán. Explore the charming streets, admire the Gran Museo del Mundo Maya and enjoy an overnight stay in a luxurious five-star hotel.

Day 13: Return home
