Important information:

  • An international passport is required, 6 months after return, with at least 2 blank pages.
  • A valid visa is required.
  • No special vaccinations are required, but are recommended. When traveling to India we recommend vaccination against DTP and Hepatitis A and Typhoid fever. Malaria is endemic throughout India, with the exception of the Himalayan Mountains and northeastern India (region bordering Tibet, Myanmar, Buthan and Bangladesh). Therefore, it is important to take precautions to prevent infection. This can be done by taking anti-malaria pills and applying mosquito repellent (DEET) to uncovered skin. We do recommend seeking advice from your family doctor or the Tropical Institute.
