A wonderful first day at sea. Enjoy the facilities on board: take a dip in the pool, unwind in the spa, or attend one of the fascinating lectures hosted by meteorologist Joe Rao and science journalist Serge Brunier. They will prepare you for tomorrow's extraordinary natural phenomenon.
Day 3: Total solar eclipse & Málaga
Today is dedicated to a rare spectacle: the total solar eclipse. Out at sea, the Captain will position the ship in the best location for clear skies. Walk along La Farola promenade, visit the Picasso Museum, or head up to Gibralfaro Castle for sweeping views of the city.
Day 4: The charm of Marbella & Mijas
You anchor near Marbella on the Costa del Sol. Wander through the picturesque old town with its whitewashed houses and flower-filled alleys. Today, you can join an excursion to the hilltop village of Mijas, including a visit to the contemporary art centre and a local wine tasting, or choose a scenic tour of Málaga featuring a traditional flamenco show.
Day 5: Historic Cádiz
You dock in Europe's oldest continuously inhabited city: Cádiz. Stroll through the narrow lanes of the medieval El Pópulo district, visit the cathedral with its striking yellow-tiled dome, and sample local cheeses at the bustling central market. In the afternoon, culture lovers can enjoy an authentic performance at a local tablao flamenco.
Day 6: The cliffs and villages of Portimão
The ship sails into the Portuguese Algarve and docks in Portimão. From here, discover the dramatic coastline with hidden sea caves such as Benagil, or venture inland to the historic town of Silves and the mountain village of Monchique. A visit to the striking sea stacks of Ponta da Piedade near Lagos is also among the options.
Day 7: Figueira da Foz
Around noon, you arrive at the mouth of the Mondego River in Figueira da Foz. Explore the charming streets and historic covered market, discover artisan oyster and salt farms, or take a trip to the famous university city of Coimbra and its magnificent Baroque library.
