Profile
For those who want to see the Burgundy vineyards they otherwise only know from the label, along small roads and with a guide who explains why two neighbouring plots produce such different wines.
9 am: Departure from your hotel
Your guide and the 2CV Bourgogne Tours team meet you at your hotel in Beaune. You can drive yourself, with the guide in a separate 2CV, or let the guide take the wheel. The drive takes you through the vineyards of the Côte de Beaune. Two thirds of the wine made here is red, but the region is best known for its white wines made from Chardonnay, such as Meursault, Montrachet and Corton-Charlemagne.
First stop: The landscape and the soil
Out in the vineyards, your guide explains how the landscape was formed. A warm, shallow sea once covered the region. When the Alps formed, the subsoil folded into the slopes where the vines grow today. The limestone, clay and marl soils help shape the taste of each vineyard.
Second stop: Aroma workshop
In a short workshop, you learn to recognise aromas typical of the Burgundy grape varieties, before tasting two wines.
12.30 pm: Back in Beaune
Your guide drives you back to your hotel.
