A journey of fragrant coffee, lush greenery and vibrant cities

13 Days - 12 Nights

From colonial towns and lush coffee regions to vibrant cities and deserted beaches, Colombia is a land of contrasts. You travel along the Caribbean coast and through the Andes Mountains, past brightly coloured villages, misty cloud forests and quiet valleys filled with hummingbirds. In Bogotá, you feel the creative energy of a capital in motion. In Salento, the aroma of freshly roasted coffee fills the air, while in Cartagena you taste the rhythm of cumbia under the tropical sun. Colombia is intense, warm and surprisingly authentic.

Day 1: Arrival in Bogotá

Upon arrival in the capital, an English-speaking guide will greet you and take you to your hotel, a charming boutique retreat known for its warm hospitality and refined details. Enjoy a calm first evening or take a short walk to stretch your legs and soak in your new surroundings.

Day 2: Discovering Bogotá

Today, you explore Bogotá in all its diversity. At a local market, taste vibrant exotic fruits like lulo and granadilla. Then head to the top of Monserrate for sweeping views over the city. Wander through the colonial district of La Candelaria with its cobbled streets and street art, and visit the Botero Museum and the famous Gold Museum. End the day with a refined diner in a stylish restaurant in the city centre.

Day 3: Into the coffee region

After a domestic flight to Armenia, your local guide meets you at the airport and takes you straight into the hills of Colombia’s coffee heartland. Visit an award-winning finca and learn about the art behind Colombia’s most prized coffee, from bean selection to roasting and tasting. In the afternoon, settle into a peaceful nature retreat surrounded by greenery.

Day 4: Cocora Valley and Salento

Hop into a classic Jeep Willys and head into the Cocora Valley, where the world’s tallest wax palms rise above the mist. Hike through the mysterious cloud forest, enjoy lunch with a view over the valley and explore the colourful streets of Salento. End your day with a freshly roasted coffee in a favourite local café.

Day 5: Ballooning and chocolate

At dawn, you float over the green hills of the coffee region in a hot-air balloon, a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Later, dive into the world of cacao: roast beans, make dark chocolate and end with a fondue made from your own creation. In the afternoon, enjoy Colombia’s most loved street food: freshly prepared arepas.

Day 6: Nature and craft in Filandia

You visit the lush Barbas Bremen nature reserve. With a bit of luck, you’ll spot howler monkeys in the trees. Afterwards, head to the charming town of Filandia where a local basket weaver shows you the secrets of a centuries-old craft. A day full of nature, tradition and authentic encounters.

Day 7: Onward to Cartagena

A domestic flight brings you to the Caribbean coast. You’ll stay in an elegant address in the historic heart of Cartagena, a city that pulses with life and colour. Wander through cobbled streets, admire the colonial architecture and soak in the city’s warm, tropical rhythm.

Day 8: Cartagena and rum tasting

You’ll discover Cartagena’s highlights, La Popa monastery, the San Felipe fortress and the city’s lively squares and bougainvillaea-covered balconies. In the afternoon, join a masterclass with eight types of rum paired with fine chocolate from the Bolívar region, a sensory treat.

Day 9: Free day with optional excursions

Today is yours to shape. Join a sunset cruise, walk in the footsteps of Gabriel Garcia Marquez or meet a local artist, poet, photographer or anthropologist for a themed city tour. Each perspective offers a different lens on this layered city.

Day 10: To Barú Island

A 45-minute boat ride brings you to the Barú peninsula, where you’ll stay in a luxurious bungalow surrounded by tropical nature or facing the sea. The atmosphere is serene and exclusive, with all the comfort you need to unwind, from a plunge pool to a hammock and the sound of the sea.

Day 11–12: Leisure in Barú

These two days are all about sun, sea and relaxed luxury. Take a helicopter flight over Corales del Rosario National Park, go snorkelling at the reef or experience the glow of bioluminescent plankton in the mangroves. Seeking serenity? Opt for a massage, a seaside yoga session or a slow sunset stroll along the beach.

Day 13: Heading home

After a peaceful morning by the water, a transfer takes you to Cartagena airport. The scent of the sea and the rhythm of cumbia linger a little longer as you say goodbye to this vibrant country.
