Hiking holiday Galicia

5 Days - 4 Nights

Step into breathtaking Galicia, full of green hills, rugged coastlines and ancient pilgrim paths. A hiking vacation in this region of northwestern Spain is more than worthwhile. Galicia is not only the destination of the famous pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, but also a region full of history, mystery, unspoiled landscapes and charming villages. Walk along winding paths, enjoy the tranquility of the vast forests and be amazed by the breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean. Put on your hiking boots and start your vacation full of nature and adventure!

Day 1: Departure to Santiago de Compostela

You'll arrive at your hotel just outside Santiago de Compostela. There you will get to know the hotel and you will have time to enjoy the spa. Feel like exploring the area? Then you can already visit Santiago de Compostela, the capital of Galicia. This is the most famous pilgrimage site in Spain and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy the car-free historic centre and stroll through the streets to discover the main attractions, such as the Monasterio de San Martiño Pinario and the cathedral.

Day 2: Fragas do Eume and A Coruña

Today you will seek out nature in the Fragas do Eume Natural Park. It is one of the best-preserved Atlantic forests. The vegetation is vast and sometimes lets little light through, but the shady and mysterious forest is enormously generous when it comes to waterfalls, springs and landscapes. Hidden in the heart of the forest, you will discover the monastery of Caaveiro. The best way to explore the park is on foot or, for adventure lovers, by kayak on the river that runs through it. On the way back you can stop in A Coruña where you will enjoy genuine Galician cuisine in one of the many restaurants.

Day 3: Cape Finisterre

Your first stop is at the Cascada de Ezaro in Dumbría, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Spain. Afterwards, you drive on to the rugged coast in Finisterre, also known as the end of the world. It is a mythical place on the Costa da Morte. This so-called 'dead coast' owes its name to the many shipwrecks created by storms at sea or by colliding with coastal rocks. One of the three largest coastal towns in Galicia, it is characterised by rocks, pointed capes, cosy fishing villages, lighthouses and a wild ocean. You will visit the village of Finisterre, with its narrow streets, quaint bars and tasty seafood restaurants. From the village, take a walk towards the coast where a true Santiago pilgrim burns his shoes.

Day 4: Lugo

A city walk in Lugo is on the programme today. Entirely surrounded by Roman city walls with entrance gates and towers, the historic centre makes this city unique. First walk on the city walls around the city and then continue towards the city centre. Stroll past Lugo's highlights such as the cathedral, Roman bridge and Roman baths and fully immerse yourself in the city's Roman history. Afterwards, rest on a cosy terrace.

Day 5: Going home

Your hiking adventure in Galicia is over. Would you like to stay longer in this region? Then we will be happy to extend your holiday.
