Day 1: Arrival in Provence
The driveway, flanked by ancient olive trees and vineyards, leads you to the impressive estate. Upon arrival, you immediately taste the tranquility of Château de Berne, where the scent of lavender and rosemary hangs in the air. Enjoy a refreshing drink on the terrace and let the first impressions sink in. In the evening, dinner awaits in the hotel's gourmet restaurant, where refined Provençal cuisine and house wines blend perfectly.
Day 2: Provence villages
After a full breakfast of artisanal local produce, it's time to explore the surrounding villages. Lorgues, with its atmospheric streets and weekly market full of local delicacies, is the perfect starting point. In Tourtour, also known as the "village in the sky," enjoy panoramic views of the vast valley. The winding road leads on to Salernes, a village known for its artisanal ceramics and rustic charm. In the afternoon, return to Château de Berne, where an exclusive wine tasting is scheduled. The estate's own wines are produced with passion and craftsmanship, and during the tasting you will discover the finesse of the local grape varieties. The day ends leisurely with dinner on the terrace, surrounded by the estate's endless vineyards.
Day 3: Getting a breath of fresh air by the Mediterranean Sea
Today the azure coast of the French Riviera beckons. Saint-Tropez, once a simple fishing village, still exudes authenticity with its lively harbor and atmospheric streets. Stroll along the pastel-colored facades and discover the boutiques, art galleries and cafes where the Mediterranean atmosphere is tangible. Then the drive continues toward Fréjus, a town with a rich Roman history and a sprawling promenade where you enjoy a leisurely lunch overlooking the sea. The day ends in Bormes-les-Mimosas, one of the most beautiful villages in the region. Here you stroll through narrow streets full of colorful flowers and cozy terraces before returning to Château de Berne for a quiet evening.
Day 4: Impressive nature in the Gorges du Verdon
After a leisurely morning in the hotel gardens, a spectacular natural wonder awaits: the Gorges du Verdon. In this impressive gorge, often described as the Grand Canyon of Europe, you will discover breathtaking panoramas and crystal clear water. On the deep blue Lac de Sainte-Croix, rent a kayak or a boat to explore the gorge from the water. For those who prefer to stay on dry land, there are numerous hiking trails along the steep cliffs with views you won't soon forget. In the afternoon, return to the hotel for a relaxing moment by the pool or in the spa. Your final evening in Provence will conclude with a gourmet dinner, where the flavors of the region shine through one more time.
Day 5: Final morning in Provence and return trip
The morning begins with a leisurely walk around the estate, where the first rays of the sun set the vineyards in a golden glow. After a final cup of coffee overlooking the rolling countryside, it is time to say goodbye to Château de Berne. If you want to extend your trip, you can choose an additional stay on the Côte d'Azur or in another Caractère hotel in the south of France. We will be happy to arrange that for you.
