An absolute highlight is Cinque Terre: 5 picturesque villages with typical Ligurian houses, delicious seafood restaurants and harbours full of colourful boats. During this round trip you will also visit some Tuscan cities such as Pisa and Lucca and end in La Spezia, the central point of "Golfo dei Poeti".
Day 1: Departure to Santa Margherita Ligure
After a long outward journey, you will arrive at the hotel, check in and have a dip in the pool.
Day 2: Genoa
With a guide, dive into "Genoa" and learn all about the rich history and dominance of the birthplace of Christopher Columbus. Discover how important this port city was over the centuries and visit the Porto Antico and the San Lorenzo Cathedral, among others. Music lovers should definitely visit the museum of Niccolò Paganini. Stand eye to eye with his violins and personal possessions and learn more about this unique musician. Those who enjoy learning gastronomic skills can attend a pesto workshop. In a historic building, you will learn to make delicious pesto using the best local ingredients.
Day 3: Portofino and Rapallo
Explore the area around the hotel and visit the exclusive Portofino, where you can admire luxurious yachts from one of the many terraces located on the harbour. If you like to take a dip in the sea, Baia di Paraggi is the place to be. Continue to Rapallo, where you will discover Art Nouveau-style buildings and restaurants in the historic centre. At the port, you will discover Castello di Rapallo, built in the 16th century to protect the town from pirates.
Day 4: Santa Margherita Ligure - Montemarcello
You will travel on to Cinque Terre, named after the 5 beautiful villages that give the region so much colour: Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia , Manarola and Riomaggiore. Check in to a five-star hotel with panoramic pool and breathtaking sea views.
Day 5: Cinque Terre
The highlight of this trip is undoubtedly on day 5. Cinque Terre can be visited in several ways. Hire a boat and cruise along one of the most beautiful Italian coastal landscapes. Those who enjoy visiting the villages on foot, we recommend taking the train from La Spezia or following the challenging hiking trail.
Day 6: Pisa and Lucca (Tuscany)
The Leaning Tower of Pisa, in the harmonious 'Piazza dei Miracoli', is one of the most visited monuments in the world. The tower, with its sophisticated architecture, is the campanile of the nearby 'Duomo', with its marble facade and bronze doors. Inside, admire the imposing 14th-century pulpit by Pisani. Next, continue to walled Lucca, a very pleasant town with lively squares and with the picturesque 'Via Fillungo', full of quaint shops. Definitely take time to sit on a terrace in the wonderful 'Piazza dell' Anfiteatro', built on the remains of a Roman theatre.
Day 7: La Spezia and Portovenere
The port of La Spezia is one of Italy's naval bases. La Spezia is also home to the Museo Tecnico Navale (Technical Maritime Museum), where you can literally dive into the world of the Italian navy and its history. Afterwards, you can enjoy a cup of coffee in the city's "Centro Storico" with its terraces and quaint shops. Those who like to end this day "all' Italiana" at sunset on a cosy terrace should definitely drive on to the port of Portovenere.
Day 8: Going home
Check out of the hotel and return home, or visit another region on your way back.
