Panoramic views of Valle d'Aosta and Piedmont

Land of mountains, wines and enjoyment

10 Days - 9 Nights

Valle d'Aosta offers you breathtaking panoramas with snow-capped peaks, rippling rivers and green valleys. It is the site of the majestic Mont Blanc and Italy's oldest national park: Gran Paradiso.

This experience trip also takes you to Turin, the cradle of industrial development and modernism. Did you know it used to be the capital of Italy? No wonder there is so much culture and history to discover.

In the surrounding Piedmont, you will drive past rolling rice fields and vineyards, alternating with slumbering villages and cosy provincial towns. Taste the renowned truffles, or wine made from the local grape variety, the 'nebbiolo'. Italy at its best.

Day 1 : Departure to Entrèves / Cogne

Your first stop will be in Valle d'Aosta, where you will be introduced to stunning views of Mont Blanc.

Day 2 and 3 : Mont Blanc and Aosta

Enjoy two days of sparkling rivers, mountain walks, green valleys and the 'Gran Paradiso' nature park. In Courmayeur, the cable lift departs from Mont Blanc (4,810 m), offering stunning panoramas. You will also visit Aosta, the picturesque regional capital with pretty shops and delicatessens.

Day 4 and 5 : Turin (Piedmont)

You continue to Italy's elegant former capital, with its beautiful 'Piazza San Carlo', its shopping opportunities and its wonderful museums such as the impressive Film Museum, the Car Museum and the Egyptian Museum, with one of the largest collections in the world. Highly recommended is 'La Venaria Reale', the former royal palace.

Day 6 : Turin - Benevello

Before heading to the beautiful 'Langhe', you can visit La Sacra di San Michele in Avigliana. This impressively located 11th-century Benedictine abbey was the model for the abbey from Umberto Eco's 'The Name of the Rose'.

Day 7 : Savigliano and Saluzzo

North of Savigliano is the Castello di Racconigi, former country residence of the royal Savoy family, with its beautiful interior and park. After this, you can continue to Saluzzo, an elegant town with a medieval centre. North is the Abbazia di Staffarda, one of Italy's most beautiful abbeys.

Day 8 : Barolo, Asti and Barbaresco

Looking for an exquisite wine? In Barolo, you can also taste wine from smaller producers owing to our hotels' connections. Through the town of Alba, famous for its white truffle, to Asti, you can visit the cosy town where all kinds of goodies are for sale. Barbaresco is a lovely village with a great name....

Day 9 : Mondovì and Cuneo

Via panoramic Mondovì with its pretty 'piazza', you will head to Cuneo. It was once the capital of silk and is now a charming town with pretty arcades.

Day 10 : Going home

Do you still have some spare time? In that case, you can opt to stay in a Caractère hotel on Lake Maggiore or on the Ligurian Riviera.
