- Visa: required. The eVisitor visa is valid for 3 months, free and very easy to apply online. The visa must have the correct passport number on it. A new passport means you need to apply for a new visa.
- For a self-drive you need to have an international driving license in combination with the Belgian/Dutch driving license.
- No vaccinations required. There is no yellow fever risk but vaccination is mandatory if you arrive in Australia from a country where yellow fever is present (or stayed in transit there for more than 12 hours). Vaccination against DTP (diphtheria, tetanus and polio) and hepatitis A is recommended. We do recommend seeking advice from your family doctor or the Tropical Institute.
Day 1: Melbourne
You will depart Australia by plane towards Melbourne. Upon arrival, your private driver will be waiting to take you to your first hotel in downtown Melbourne where you will stay for one night. Take a lesson in kitesurfing or take a leisurely stroll on the pier. Not only is the beach here lovely, but the St. Kilda neighborhood is also Melbourne's most vibrant. Settle down in one of the trendy cafes, stroll through the iconic Luna Park or discover the atmosphere at night in one of the many hip clubs.
Day 2: Pick up rental car and head to Sorrento
You'll pick up your rental car and drive to your second stay on the coast in Sorrento. The InterContinental Sorrento is a luxury hotel with stylish rooms, an exclusive pool, spa and gourmet experience in a historic building on the Mornington Peninsula. In Sorrento, stroll past impressive limestone buildings, discover unique galleries and browse chic boutiques and cozy cafes. Then cool off on the beach, swim side-by-side with dolphins or head out to the surrounding Mornington Peninsula for culinary indulgences at charming boutique wineries.
Day 3: Ferry to Queenscliff
You'll make an impressive crossing by ferry from Sorrento to Queenscliff. You continue to the coastal town of Anglesea where you stay at Great Ocean Road Resort. The resort is located along the spectacular Great Ocean Road, surrounded by pristine beaches, rugged sandstone cliffs and picturesque forests. Here you will enjoy beautifully appointed rooms, a wonderful spa and local cuisine in the restaurant.
Day 4: Wildlife walk and helicopter flight
Your day starts with a guided walk through the Otways forest along an easy trail. You will then take an impressive helicopter flight over the Great Ocean Road. In the evening, you will spend the night in a luxury villa.
Day 5 and 6: Victoria Regional
You start by exploring Grampians National Park. You'll take beautiful walks here, discover numerous animals such as kangaroos and emus, and you can go climbing and abseiling. The Victoria region is bursting with vineyards, here you will enjoy a wine tour and taste the best local wines. You will stay two nights in a stylish designer cabin of Grampians Bushband. From your cabin you have a unique view of nature, great for unwinding.
Day 7: South Australia Regional
Today you drive to Robe in South Australia. You will first pass Naracoorte Caves National Park. The Naracoorte Caves are part of the 800,000-year-old Naracoorte East Range. They are on the World Heritage List and are among the most important fossil sites in the world. Afterwards, you explore the cozy town of Robe. You spend the night here in a small-scale lodge with a personal welcome.
Day 8 and 9: Kangaroo Island
After breakfast you take the ferry to Kangaroo Island, a pristine natural paradise off the coast of South Australia. Here you will find spectacular cliffs, tranquil beaches and unique wildlife such as koalas, sea lions and kangaroos in their natural habitat. The next two nights you will stay in a luxury cabin with breathtaking views of Antechamber Bay. Some fun activities you can do nearby include: meet raptors at Raptor Domain, search for sea lions in Seal Bay, visit oyster farm shop, visit Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil Distillery and so much more.
Day 10: Ferry to Cape Jervis and Adelaide
You'll take the ferry back to the mainland, to Cape Jervis. You then continue on towards Adelaide where you stay another night at a luxury downtown hotel. Soak up the sun on one of the many idyllic city beaches, discover stylish downtown boutiques, dine in world-renowned restaurants, soak up the atmosphere in cozy little bars or explore some of Australia's best wine regions.
Day 11: Return home
Unfortunately, your trip is over. With a backpack full of great memories, you return home.
