- No special vaccinations are required, but are recommended. When traveling to Singapore, we recommend vaccination against Hepatitis B, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis and tetanus. There is no risk for malaria in Singapore. When traveling to Borneo (Malaysia), we recommend vaccination against Hepatitis A and DTP (Diphtheria, Tetanus and Polio). If you have been in a yellow fever area within the 10 days prior to visiting Malaysia, a yellow fever vaccination is required. Malaria risk is moderate, but we recommend using mosquito repellent outside cities from dusk to dawn. We do recommend seeking advice from your family doctor or the Tropical Institute.
Day 1: Arrival in Singapore
Welcome to Singapore!!! Upon arrival at Changi International Airport, you will be picked up and transferred to your hotel in the city center. Depending on your arrival time, you will have the rest of the day free to relax or get a taste of Singapore's lively atmosphere beforehand.
Day 2: From Singapore to Danum Valley in Borneo
After breakfast, you fly to Lahad Datu, on the east coast of Sabah. From here you will drive by private 4x4 to the heart of the jungle, the Danum Valley Conservation Area. Orangutans, Asian elephants and numerous rare species live in this protected rainforest. After an introduction, you will take your first hike through the jungle, followed by a spectacular treetop walk. In the evening you will go on a night safari in an open jeep in search of animals that become active after dark.
Day 3: Deep into the jungle
Today you will explore the jungle in an active way. You hike to Coffin Cliff, a historic burial ground high above the trees where you will enjoy panoramic views of the rainforest. Then cool off in a natural Jacuzzi pool. In the afternoon, go tubing on the Danum River, a relaxing way to admire the jungle from the water. Weather permitting, head out again in the evening for a night hike.
Day 4: Explore Danum Valley.
In the morning, hike to Fairy Falls and Serpent Falls, where water flows from 15 meters high into natural rock pools. This is a place of tranquility in the midst of pristine jungle. In the afternoon, take a leisurely walk along the Segama River, where, with luck, you may spot rhinos or macaques.
Day 5: From Danum Valley back to Singapore
Early in the morning, you drive back to Lahad Datu for your flight to Singapore. After arrival, you have the rest of the day free. Enjoy a drink at Raffles Singapore's Long Bar or explore the city at your own pace.
Day 6: City Tour of Singapore
Today you'll explore Singapore with a private guide. You'll stroll past colonial architecture and visit iconic landmarks like Merlion Park and Thian Hock Keng Temple. In Chinatown you'll dive into history and colorful streets, and in Little India you'll discover how different cultures merge in this dynamic city.
Day 7: From Singapore to Bawah Reserve
In the morning you will depart by ferry to Batam, followed by a short domestic flight to the exclusive Bawah Reserve. Located in the middle of a protected nature reserve, this luxurious private island offers the ultimate escape from the crowds. Upon arrival, check in and enjoy the paradisiacal beach and turquoise lagoons.
Day 8 - 10: Relax in Bawah Reserve
Three full days to explore the island your way. Explore the underwater world with a snorkeling or diving excursion, sail a catamaran along the coast or take a kayak trip through crystal clear waters. Those who prefer to relax can enjoy spa treatments or take an Indonesian cooking class. In the evening, enjoy romantic dinners under the stars.
Day 11: Return to Singapore
After a final morning at Bawah Reserve, take the seaplane back to Batam and continue your journey by ferry to Singapore. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel and have the evening free to finish this metropolis at your own pace.
Day 12: Return home
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Changi International Airport for your return flight.
