Round trip Australia: Sydney, Ayers Rock & Port Douglas

Helicopter flights over the Blue Mountains, hikes through ancient rainforest and snorkeling among colorful coral in the Great Barrier Reef - you'll experience something new every day. You'll stay in stylish hotels and have nothing to worry about thanks to your private driver who will take you everywhere.

Important information:

  • International passport, still valid for 6 months after return
  • Visa: required. The eVisitor visa is valid for 3 months, free and very easy to apply online. The visa must have the correct passport number on it. A new passport means you need to apply for a new visa.
  • For a self-drive you need to have an international driving license in combination with the Belgian/Dutch driving license.
  • No vaccinations required. There is no yellow fever risk but vaccination is mandatory if you arrive in Australia from a country where yellow fever is present (or stayed in transit there for more than 12 hours). Vaccination against DTP (diphtheria, tetanus and polio) and hepatitis A is recommended. We do recommend seeking advice from your family doctor or the Tropical Institute.

Day 1: Sydney

You will take the plane to Sydney. Upon arrival, your private driver will be waiting to take you to your first hotel. You will spend your three nights in the historic heart of Sydney.

Day 2: Explore Sydney

Your driver will pick you up at your hotel and lead you past iconic sites such as The Rocks, Circular Quay, Woolloomooloo, Kings Cross, Double Bay and Rose Bay. At The Gap National Park, you'll take a walk to the Macquarie Lighthouse. Then visit Bondi Beach, where you will enjoy a coffee, a walk along the beach or a quick dip in the ocean. The tour continues into the city via Oxford Street, past St. Mary's Cathedral, Hyde Park and Sydney Observatory. You then cross the Sydney Harbour Bridge to Milsons Point for stunning views of the harbor city. After a brief stop, stroll through Wendy's Secret Garden before boarding a luxury ship for a two-hour cruise on Sydney Harbour. During the cruise, enjoy lunch as you sail past landmarks. In the afternoon, visit Sydney Opera House.

Day 3: Helicopter Tour

Today you combine a helicopter tour and a luxury eco-tour in the heart of the Blue Mountains. You start with panoramic views of Sydney, the Pacific Ocean and icons such as the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. The flight follows the Parramatta River and ends with a landing in the Blue Mountains National Park. You then take a 4WD tour of the Three Sisters, Katoomba Waterfall, Jamison and Kedumba valleys and Blackheath. In the afternoon you will enjoy a deluxe lunch overlooking the Megalong and Kanimbla Valleys, with a chance to spot kangaroos. You then explore Grose Valley, Bridal Veil Waterfall and the "Grand Canyon" of Australia.

Day 4: Ayers Rock

Your private driver will pick you up and take you to your next accommodation, Sails in the Desert. The five-star luxury hotel is located at the Ayers Rock Resort in Yulara. You can relax by the large outdoor pool, surrounded by shady eucalyptus trees, or enjoy culinary delights at Ilkari Restaurant. In the evening, enjoy a three-course dinner under the stars in the Australian desert.

Day 5: Uluru & Kata Tjuta

Start the day in early morning rest at Kata Tjuta and admire the changing colors of the sunrise. Enjoy a picnic breakfast overlooking these icons of Central Australia. Learn about the diverse landscape as you hike through the impressive rock walls of Walpa Gorge and discover the evolution of Kata Tjuta's 36 domes over millions of years. Then explore the iconic Uluru in a small group accompanied by an SEIT guide. Learn about Uluru's culture, geology and environment, hike to Mutitjulu Waterhole, take the Mala Walk and visit rock art sites to understand Uluru's significance to the Anangu. You finish the tour at the Talinguru Nyakunytjaku viewpoint for an uninterrupted sunset over Uluru with Kata Tjuta in the background while enjoying sparkling wine.

Day 6: Helicopter flight to Uluru & Kata Tjuta

Today is scheduled for a helicopter flight that gives you unique views of Uluru and Kata Tjuta, with access to areas otherwise inaccessible. Then you will take a flight from Cairns to Port Douglas. There your private driver will be waiting for you and take you to your hotel where you will stay for three nights. It is an adults only destination on the beach in Port Douglas, perfect for a quiet and romantic vacation, with luxury facilities such as a pool, Jacuzzi and bar.

Day 7: Catamaran trip to the Great Barrier Reef

Start the day with an early departure from Port Douglas Marina and sail a beautiful yacht to the Coral Cays of Mackay or Undine Reefs, where you will enjoy an authentic sailing experience along the coastline and views of the Daintree Mountains. At the protected sites of the Coral Cays, you can snorkel with a qualified marine biologist, who gives a tour of the coral reef, or take a tour in a glass-bottom boat. The area is home to an abundance of marine life, including turtles, giant clams, colorful coral and various species of fish. In the afternoon, feast on a tropical buffet and tea or coffee from local plantations. Explore the white sandy beaches of the Coral Cays and enjoy the sun, tranquility and swimming in the crystal clear turquoise waters.

Day 8: Cairns

You will be greeted by a friendly guide at your accommodation before the start of the tour. In the morning, your guide will pick you up and start you on a drive along the beautiful Captain Cook Highway overlooking the coastline and azure waters of the Coral Sea, while you learn more about the history of the region. Then you'll go on a one-hour river cruise on the Daintree River, spotting crocodiles, mangrove forests and local wildlife. Next, you will drive through the ancient Daintree Rainforest while your guide tells you more about the flora, fauna and local history. In the afternoon, lunch is provided in the heart of the rainforest. After lunch you will take a guided beach walk. Then you will taste a locally produced tropical fruit ice cream from the Daintree rainforest. You hike further into the rainforest via various trails and boardwalks where you visit the Mossman River Lookout and the Suspension Bridge and possibly refresh yourself with a dip in the river.

Day 9: Back home

Unfortunately, your adventure in Australia is over. You'll take a private transfer back to Cairns airport and catch the plane back home.
