Ideal for travellers who enjoy active mountain holidays, like combining nature with light adventure and want to experience Switzerland in an accessible and varied way.
Day 1: Arrival in Arosa
You'll travel by car or train to Arosa, where you'll check into Hotel Valsana for five nights. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and take a short walk through the village or along the lake a few minutes from your hotel.
Day 2: Exploring with the Arosa Card
Today, with the Arosa Card, explore the area by cable car, train and mail bus free of charge. Take the gondola to Weisshorn for your first view of the surrounding peaks, or hike to the Arosa Bärenland, a bear sanctuary at 2,000 meters elevation that provides shelter for rescued bears from poor conditions. Along the way, you'll pass alpine meadows, wooden bridges and fresh streams.
Day 3: Day trip to Chur
Via a scenic train ride you descend to Chur, Switzerland's oldest city. Together with a guide, you'll explore the car-free old town, full of winding alleys, squares and well-preserved facades. Between walks there is time for lunch on a cozy terrace. For an extra view, take the hiking trail to Haldenhüttli, where you can look out over the Alps and the valley above the city.
Day 4: Kayaking in the Rhine Gorge
Today a sporty adventure awaits. From Arosa you will take the train to Versam, where you will explore the Rhine Gorge by kayak with an experienced guide team. In small groups you will sail through the spectacular scenery of steep cliffs, turquoise water and quiet stretches of river. Afterwards there is a barbecue on the bank, a relaxing end to an active day.
Day 5: With the Glacier Express to Sankt Moritz
A trip through Switzerland is not complete without a ride on the Glacier Express. You board in Chur for a journey to Sankt Moritz, which takes you past deep gorges, high viaducts and mountain villages in about three hours. Along the way you will enjoy the views thanks to the panoramic windows of your comfortable carriage. After arriving in Sankt Moritz, you will have time for a short exploration before returning to Arosa.
