Savour a different Catalonia

The scents and colours of mountains and sea

7 Days - 6 Nights

Zarzuela de mariscos', 'allioli', 'crema catalana'... Is your mouth already watering? Then you will certainly enjoy this culinary journey through the scents and colours of the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean.

From the tax-free shopping paradise of Andorra to the beautiful Pyrenean landscapes, dotted with medieval villages and dormant volcanoes. The 'other' Catalonia has a lot of delicacies on the menu. Did you know that the province of Girona, Catalonia's gastronomic centre, has one of the highest concentrations of Michelin restaurants in Europe?

But you will also get a taste of culture on this experience trip. Visit the Dalí Museum in Figueras, the villa where the artist lived in Port Lligat and impressive ruins of a monastery and castle in the Cap de Creus nature park. And of course, with that much beauty comes a nice glass of local cava. Buen provecho!

Would you like to enjoy Catalonia a little longer? Then extend your stay with a few days in Barcelona.

Day 1: Departure to Barcelona / La Seu d'Urgell

You will drive your rental car from Barcelona airport through the Pyrenees to La Seu d'Urgell.

Day 2: La Seu d'Urgell, Bellver de Cerdanya and Andorra

La Seu d'Urgell with its Olympic Segre park, and Bellver de Cerdanya with its Romanesque church, are well worth a visit. Only 50 km further you will arrive in Andorra, a renowned tax-free shopping paradise.

Day 3: Vall d'Aran and Vall de Boí

Visit this beautiful Pyrenean landscape, with magnificent Romanesque churches in typical villages such as Salardú, Arties, Betrén, Bòssost and Taüll.

Day 4: La Seu d'Urgell - Pals

Via Olot, capital of the land of sunken volcanoes, and Besalú you will leave the green Pyrenees and head into the Catalan hinterland of the beautiful Empordà, where you will stay 3 nights at hotel Camiral in Caldès de Malavella.

Day 5: Pau - Girona

The province of Gerona is one of Catalonia's main gastronomic centres, with one of the highest concentrations of Michelin restaurants in Europe. Gerona itself is a cosy town, with colourful houses along the Onyar River and numerous bridges, such as Gustave Eiffel's. Or visit the hinterland of the Costa Brava, with medieval villages like Peratallada, Monells and Pals, famous for its rice.

Day 6: Figueras - Cadaqués - Cap de Creus

Visit the Dalí Museum in Figueras, the charming fishing village of Cadaqués, the house where Dalí lived for years in Port Lligat, and the Cap de Creus Natural Park, the easternmost point of mainland Spain, with its impressive remains of the Benedictine monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes and the ruins of Sant de Verdera castle. Return via the medieval village of Peralada, known for its castle and delicious cava.

Day 7: Going home

A final stopover in charming Sant Feliu de Guíxols before returning your rental car to Barcelona and flying back home. Still have a little holiday left? Extend your trip in Barcelona, and discover the modernist and surrealist city of Antoni Gaudí and Joan Miró.
