In 2012, Unesco placed much of this northern French mining region on the World Heritage List. Did you know that Pas-de-Calais has a centuries-old brewing tradition ? Numerous beers are still brewed here and a new generation of young craft brewers are making themselves heard. The geographical location and the presence of all the necessary raw materials for brewing beer (hops, grain, barley and water) have made beer a typical regional product since the Middle Ages. At the beginning of the 20th century, this region had more than 2,000 small breweries. Almost every municipality has its own brewery that sells their products in local restaurants and cafes.
