"The most beautiful architectural work in the world." This is how the famous French architect Le Corbusier called the Dolomites, one of the most impressive mountain ranges in the Alps. Alta Badia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the ideal starting point to explore this mountain world. The valley is surrounded by imposing mountain peaks such as the Sasso di Santa Croce, the Lagazuoi and the Piz Boè. These mountain peaks long kept the locals cut off from outside influences and fostered the development of a unique language and lifestyle. It was in this Ladin culture that the history of Hotel La Majun began. The grandfather of the current owner was the village blacksmith in the 1930s. After his death, the women in the family could not take over the blacksmith shop and were forced to find a way to survive. So in the 1960s, they began renting out a few rooms and divided up the tasks in their small guest house. Today, La Majun is still run by the same family. Three generations have turned the small house in La Villa into a comfortable and stylish hotel, with the cozy atmosphere and warm welcome of yesteryear.
The hotel is open from early December to mid-April and from early June to early October.

All rooms are different. They are comfortably and cosily furnished with lots of wood and parquet floors. Most have a balcony and views of the surrounding mountain landscape. Hostess Roberta has added artisanal Ladin accessories in the rooms for an authentic look. The bathrooms have a bath or shower and a 'wellness bag' with bathrobe and slippers.
Our favourite are the Comfort Alpine rooms. From the balcony you have views of the mountain peaks of Lavarello and Conturines. They are decorated in a chalet style with lots of wood. The family suite, with two bedrooms, is ideal for families.
The hotel has a heated indoor pool some 10 metres long with breathtaking mountain views.

From mid-June to September, you can take part in a weekly activity programme, including free guided mountain hikes, mountain bike, e-bike and racing bike tours, equipment hire not included. The vast hiking area of Alta Badia offers more than 400 km of well-marked trails at altitudes between 1200 and 3250 metres. The hotel has a convenient and central location near the ski slopes so you can leave and return on your skis. The hotel's terrace offers a view of the ski school slopes. More experienced skiers need only cross the road to the first ski lift, which is directly connected to the cable car to the Alta Badia ski area and the Sellaronda. One of the must-sees in winter is skiing in the 'Dolomiti Superski' area. With a choice of 450 lifts, you can cover many kilometres every day, a perfect scenario for experienced skiers.
Children are welcome here, but there are no special facilities.
On Tuesday evenings, the hotel serves traditional recipes from Ladin cuisine, including dumplings and barley soup.
