The history of Molino di Foci dates back to the 14th century. Fed by the Foci River, this former watermill played a central role for centuries in the agriculture and grain production around San Gimignano.

Don’t miss San Gimignano, often called the “New York of the Middle Ages” for its 13 towers and its charming Piazza della Cisterna. Thanks to its proximity, it’s best enjoyed in the evening when the day-trippers have left. Siena, with its famous Piazza del Campo, and Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, are also within easy reach.
Children are warmly welcome, though there are no special facilities for them.
At times, the chef serves pappa al pomodoro, a traditional soup made with bread and tomatoes. The dish perfectly captures the Tuscan spirit: simplicity, respect for pure ingredients and the art of turning little into something extraordinary. It originates from the cucina povera, or “poor man’s cuisine”, when nothing was ever wasted.
Casual chic
The breakfast buffet features local cold cuts and cheeses, fresh fruit, and oven-warm bread and croissants. Throughout the day, you can enjoy light snacks, salads and bruschette. From around May to October, the chef serves a fixed three-course menu on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, simple yet flavourful dishes made with fresh, seasonal ingredients. When the weather is pleasant, meals are served on the terrace overlooking the Tuscan hills.
