On December 31st, a ‘house party’ is planned, with a champagne reception and live music, followed by an exquisite tasting menu. The New Year will be festively kicked off with a fireworks display on the lawn.
New Year's Day will begin with a relaxed late breakfast or perhaps brunch. You’re free to fill your day as you wish: take a cruise on Lake Windermere or enjoy classic films in the stylish Rothay Manor cinema—complete with popcorn and ice cream, of course! In the evening, once again, indulge in the culinary delights of the à la carte menu.

Het Lake District is met 2.362 km² het grootste nationale park van het Engeland en staat in zijn geheel op de lijst van UNESCO Werelderfgoed. Natuurliefhebbers komen hier dus ogen tekort. Daarnaast heeft deze regio echter ook op culinair vlak heel wat in zijn mars, want je vindt er maar liefst 13 sterrenrestaurants. Het kleine Ambleside alleen al telt er twee. De clichés over de Britse keuken zijn bij deze dus volledig ontkracht.
De kamers van het hotel liggen verspreid over het 200 jaar-oude historische gebouw en het recent gebouwde paviljoen. Alle kamers zijn ruim en beschikken over heerlijke super-kingsize bedden, een minibar, gratis thee- en koffiefaciliteiten, luxe toiletartikelen van Bath House, haardrogers en zachte badjassen.
In de Fairfield Suite voel je je een royal. Deze elegante kamer heeft een aparte ingang, een gezellig salon en een ruime badkamer met vrijstaande badkuip als eyecatcher. In de Red Screes Suite kan je genieten van een terras met privéjacuzzi.
Het hotel heeft geen zwembad. Gelukkig ligt het meer van Windermere, het grootste van heel Engeland, op wandelafstand van het hotel.
Actieve reizigers komen in deze regio niets tekort. Hiken, paddleboarden, ‘cold water swimming’… hier kan het allemaal. Of ooit al gedacht aan ‘off road driving’? Chef Aaron Lawrence takes inspiration from the rugged landscape and prepares modern British dishes using only the finest local ingredients. Meat comes from Lake District farmers, seasonal fruit from the Lyth Valley and lobster from Ulverston. The restaurant is open every evening. Hotel guests can choose from an all-day menu for a quick bite throughout the day. Be sure to try afternoon tea, served Monday through Saturday between 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.
Rothay Manor is located in the heart of the Lake District, within walking distance of Lake Windermere. You can also easily reach cosy Ambleside on foot. The centre of Windermere, the town that shares its name with the lake, is fifteen minutes away by car. Lively Kendal is half an hour's drive away, Penrith can be reached in less than an hour. London is less than six hours away, some 450 km.
Manchester airport is the nearest at about 150 km. Edinburgh airport is 240 km away.
