The Wilmina Hotel is definitely unique. Today, this former women's prison and criminal court is a family-run hotel with a special atmosphere and warm hospitality. The courtyards with seating areas and lush climbing plants, the rooftop terrace with outdoor pool and the light-filled lounge with fireplace will help you unwind after a visit to Berlin's bustling city centre. Regardless whether it's winter or summer.
The hotel is open all year round.
This hotel has 44 rooms.
Earliest check-in is from 3 pm. Latest check-out is at 12 pm.
The owners transformed the "Amtsalon", the former courthouse, into a space for art and culture where you will find regular exhibitions.
Once you open your cell door, you will forget that this was once a prison. You will find yourself in a restful room with lots of light and quality natural materials. You'll sleep on a comfortable Coco-mat mattress, and upon rising, you'll enjoy an invigorating rain shower.
The Classic Extended is our favourite room because of its space and large windows overlooking the courtyard garden. Some can accommodate three people. Caractère does not offer the basic Cosy rooms because they are too small.
On the rooftop terrace you'll find a ten-meter-long outdoor swimming pool. The pool is not heated. In winter, it serves as an "ice bath" to plunge into after the sauna.
Unwind in the free sauna or work out in the hotel's fitness centre. You can also opt for a beneficial massage. There is also a billiards room and library.
Children of all ages are welcome here.
Make sure to try the confit trout. A tasty and light dish!
Opt for a casual chic outfit.
In the morning, enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet before exploring Berlin. At Restaurant Lovis, open from Tuesday to Saturday, chef Sophia Rudolph, who once worked with Alain Ducasse, serves contemporary German cuisine using seasonal and regional produce. Her focus is on vegetables from sustainable producers. The dishes are presented in a beautiful and sophisticated way. In the neighbouring bar, you can enjoy - in a beautiful interior or on the terrace - a wide choice of cocktails.
Wilmina Hotel is quietly located and hidden behind a historic façade, in the Charlottenburg district. Barely 200 m away is Suarezstraße, with dozens of specialised antique shops, a must for fans of old treasures. The Kurfürstendam, the city's most popular shopping boulevard, is about 1 km away. The 'Tiergarten', a huge 210-hectare park with the zoo and the winged statue 'Siegessaüle' is 3 km away. The Jewish Museum and the Holocaust Memorial are 6 km away. The Brandenburg Gate, the famous city gate symbolising German reunification, and the Reichstag, the parliament building, are 7 km away and Checkpoint Charlie 8 km. The East Side Gallery, the longest still-in-tact piece of the Berlin Wall and painted with graffiti artworks, is 10 km away.
Berlin Airport is 9 km from the hotel.
The hotel can send a taxi to the airport on request.
Parking is available in a nearby building for 26 euros per day.
Hotel Wilmina is a hidden gem and an oasis of calm in the cosmopolitan city of Berlin. With its light tones, roomy feel and sophisticated cuisine, this hotel strays far from its prison past. Some elements have been preserved and blended in beautifully. The outdoor pool, green courtyards and pleasant lounge with fireplace offer relaxation after exploring the lively city centre.
