Paraty's cobblestone streets seem straight out of a painting: whitewashed facades with brightly colored shutters, framed by mountains of cloud forest that spill into the sea. A few hours further on, you are surrounded by more rugged nature in the Chapada Diamantina, where gorges, waterfalls and table mountains set the stage for days of adventure. Even deeper inland, in the hills of Minas Gerais, coffee plantations stretch to the horizon and you'll find yourself in villages where craft and gastronomy play the leading role.
In the north you will find the endless sand dunes of Lençóis Maranhenses, interspersed with crystal clear lagoons. In Bahia you can taste Afro-Brazilian influences, from capoeira on the beach to fragrant moquecas in the kitchen. And if you want to go really far away, sail up the Amazon past remote villages, sleeping quarters on stilts and an endless wall of greenery.
Brazil challenges you to wander around, to spontaneously change course and to find beauty in places no one sends you. Here, travel is about slowing down, marveling and connecting with nature, people and the rhythm of the day.
