China

China

On the shore of a misty lake, the curved roofs of a temple shimmer in the still water. In the distance, a group of tai chi practitioners move gracefully across a square, porcelain clinks softly in a teahouse, and markets buzz with scents and colours. China is a land of contrasts: ancient rituals beside futuristic cities, serene landscapes beside lively streets that never sleep.

Travel through imperial Beijing, with its Forbidden City and winding hutongs, to modern Shanghai where skyscrapers sparkle above the Huangpu River. In Xi’an, the Terracotta Warriors stand in silent formation; in Guilin, the Li River winds between karst peaks like brushstrokes from an ancient painting. Further west, the mystical plateaus of Tibet and the lush rice terraces of Longsheng unfold, places where life flows slowly and peacefully.

What makes China so captivating is its depth: dynasties and revolutions, philosophy and poetry, calligraphy and street art, all existing side by side. You taste it in a steaming bowl of noodles, hear it in an old folk tune, feel it in the quiet of a Taoist garden. Every moment is an encounter with a culture that is both ancient and vibrantly alive.

Best time to visit China

Because of its vast size, China has several climate zones. Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) are the best times to travel: pleasant temperatures, blooming gardens and landscapes full of colour. Summer brings heat and crowds, especially in the cities, while winter reveals a different charm in the north, with snow around the Great Wall and a peaceful Beijing.
