City trip Bilbao

4 Days - 3 Nights

This once industrial city is now one of the most stylish cities in northern Spain. In recent years, Bilbao has become a major center for art, architecture and design in Spain, and it is home to many museums, galleries and remarkable buildings. On the culinary front, Bilbao is a true voyage of discovery, where traditional Basque cuisine with its innovative pintxos and refined dishes will delight any foodie. In short, during this city trip to Bilbao you will be surprised from all angles.

Day 1: Arrival in Bilbao

You'll arrive in Bilbao and transfer to your hotel. On the way you will cross the Puente de Vizcaya, the oldest suspension bridge in the world still in use. A floating structure allows both vehicles and passengers to pass between Portugalete and Getxo, without hindering navigation. From the bridge, accessible by elevator, you have a magnificent view. After your check-in, enjoy an afternoon of sunbathing or a sporting activity such as a sailing trip, canoe trip or go surfing. The options are endless on the coast.

Day 2: The historic center and the Guggenheim Museum

The original city was formed by the seven streets that form the center of the old quarter. On the right bank of the Nervión River, you will discover the historic center full of beautiful buildings and monuments. Your next stop is Spain's largest indoor market, La Ribera. In fact, with its three floors, it is the largest covered market in Europe. It is the perfect place to buy fresh produce such as meat, fish, vegetables and fruits. After lunch, Bilbao's most famous museum is on the schedule, the Guggenheim Museum. A museum of modern and experimental art, it is the crowd pleaser in Bilbao. The building is a work of art in itself, but a visit to the art collection inside is also worthwhile.

Day 3: Ensanche, River Nervion and Pintxos

Bilbao's Ensanche district has become the financial and commercial center and is the most cosmopolitan part of the city. Its main street, Gran Vía, is home to stores, banks and stately homes. Stroll around here for a morning to see some of the beautiful buildings and shop. In Bilbao, you're never far from the water. Along the Nervion River, stroll past some of the quieter places and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

You can't go to the Basque Country without trying the famous Pintxos. It is the Basque version of tapas, small snacks served in taverns or bars. Each bar has its own specialties, so it is worth going from bar to bar and trying some Pintxos in each one. A guide will take you through the best addresses!

Day 4: Back home

Your city trip is over. Today you return home full of great memories.
