Profile
The ideal match for travellers who love a good dose of art, Italian atmosphere and, of course, Tuscan cuisine. In short: the ultimate cultural city trip.
Day 1: Understanding the city with a Flemish guide If you are visiting Florence for the first time, you will be overwhelmed by an overdose of timeless beauty. One masterpiece after another passes you by. You walk past beautiful palazzi, lovely squares, magnificent churches and museums. To help you understand all this beauty better, our Flemish guide Sophie takes you on a three-hour walk. She tells you about the Medici family and how they made Florence rich, about the Duomo with Brunelleschi's majestic dome, about the Piazza della Signoria and Michelangelo's David. She will take you across the Ponte Vecchio, the “old bridge”, to the Palazzo Pitti. This palace was once the home of Eleonora di Toledo and Cosimo I de' Medici, who had the Corridoio Vasariano built. This kilometre-long corridor allowed him to move undisturbed from his home to the Palazzo degli Uffizi, his office, and the Palazzo Vecchio, the ducal palace.
Day 2: guided food tour
Foodies will be in their element during a guided food tour. A local will take you, in a small group, to sample the atmosphere and specialities of the city. You will stop at one of the most beautiful cafés to learn how the Florentines have breakfast. You will visit the Sant'Ambrogio market, where the city's inhabitants buy local products every day, and taste Lampredotto, their favourite street food. Of course, a typical pasta dish and artisan gelato are a must!
Day 3: visit to the Uffizi Museum
Art lovers can visit the Uffizi Museum today, with or without a guide. We will provide the tickets so you don't have to queue. All you have to do is enjoy 13,000 m² of art. The collection of this world-famous museum consists of thousands of works by great Italian masters such as Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello, Giotto, Cimabue and Caravaggio.
Day 4: return home
Today you return home with valuable impressions of the city of the Medici. Or you can extend your stay in beautiful Tuscany.
