During this trip you will stay in Taormina, strategically located between the sea and Mount Etna. From this lively town, explore the archaeological remains of the Teatro Greco, stroll along the elegant Corso Umberto and discover surrounding spots such as Castelmola, Isola Bella and Etna Crater. You'll take day trips to Catania or Siracusa, taste local Etna wines, and in between enjoy rest by the sea or in an attractive garden with a view.

Day 1: Arrival in Taormina

Upon arrival, check into your hotel in Taormina, Atlantis Bay. Take your first stroll through the historic center and follow Corso Umberto, with its boutiques, cafes and squares. Pass the city gates Porta Messina and Porta Catania and immerse yourself in the city's atmosphere beforehand. End the day with dinner at a local restaurant, where you will taste typical dishes such as pasta alla Norma and cannoli.

Day 2: Teatro Greco - Giardini della Villa Comunale - Isola Bella

You start the day at the Teatro Greco, the ancient amphitheater with a view of Mount Etna and the Ionian Sea. Then walk to the Giardini della Villa Comunale, a tranquil spot with exotic plantings and viewpoints over the coast. In the afternoon, head to the beach of Isola Bella, reached by a narrow strip of sand. Here you will enjoy a refreshing swim or a moment of tranquility by the water.

Day 3: Excursion to Mount Etna

Today you will discover Mount Etna, Europe's most active volcano. With an organized tour or your own car you will drive to Rifugio Sapienza, on the southern flank of the mountain. From there you will continue by cable car and jeep to the crater zones. Accompanied by a guide, you will explore the lava landscape. On the way back, stop at a local winery for a tasting of Etna wines.

Day 4: Castelmola

In the morning visit Castelmola, a small village high above Taormina. From its castle ruins, you'll have sweeping views of the coastline. Drink a glass of almond wine in the village square and stroll through the quiet streets. In the afternoon, return to Taormina for a few hours of relaxation at Mazzarò beach or at a nearby spa.

Day 5: Day trip to Catania or Siracusa

Depending on your preference, today you will visit Catania or Siracusa. In Catania, discover the fish market, baroque cathedral and Roman remains in the city center. Siracusa charms with Ortigia, the historic island section with squares, churches and markets. There you will visit the Greek theater and the Ear of Dionysius in the archaeological park. In the evening you return to Taormina for a final dinner in the city.

Day 6: Return home

Start your day leisurely with breakfast on a terrace in Taormina. Still browse around stores for local products such as pistachio paste, ceramics or almond cookies. Depending on your departure time, hike to one more viewpoint or say goodbye to the city with a final espresso before heading to the airport.
