The photogenic Val d'Orcia, located south of Siena, is the Tuscany we see on postcards. The landscape consists of countless hills that succeed each other with a natural symmetry, with vast wheat fields and on the horizon a lonely farm accompanied by a few slender cypress trees. Medieval pilgrims passed here along the "Via Francigena" to Rome, and Renaissance painters were inspired by the colors of barren clay and golden wheat fields. Etruscans and Romans discovered the benefits of the sulfurous waters bubbling up here, and Unesco crowned the region a World Heritage Site.

The wine cellar, from the 1400s, was discovered by chance during restoration work. The owners have 2 more stores in the village, one with local products and wines and one with (home) perfumes and care products based on Tuscan herbs.
All rooms are decorated differently. Some have a romantic and typically Tuscan décor, others have a more contemporary look, but always preserving authentic elements such as wooden beams and terracotta floors.
The deluxe room is our favorite, as it is more spacious than the classic.
The outdoor pool is located in an authentic Etruscan basin, in a lush garden with aromatic shrubs, lavender and pergolas with flowers. You can relax in the loungers by the pool and under the olive trees.
The hotel offers massages, body treatments and a private spa with hydromassage pool, hammam and fireplace. For those who are more sporty, it is fun to rent mountain bikes or e-bikes, with mapped cycling routes. About 700 meters from the hotel you can play tennis. There are also numerous nice towns and sights nearby, such as Siena, Montalcino, Montepulciano, Pienza and the abbeys of Monte Oliveto Maggiore and Sant'Antimo.
Make sure to try their homemade pasta and delicious truffle dishes.
The Trattoria al Vecchio Forno, about 50 meters away and from the same owners, serves a continental à la carte breakfast including homemade pastries and fresh fruit. On request, they also provide various hot dishes. In the evening, they serve a tasty Tuscan cuisine based on fresh local products in a cozy and informal atmosphere. Weather permitting, you can enjoy these dishes on the garden terrace. The Garden Bar at the hotel is the ideal place for a refreshing drink or an aperitif. Upon request, the hotel provides wine tasting or cooking classes.
