Day 1: Kathmandu - Paro - Thimphu
You depart Kathmandu for Paro, one of the most spectacular flights in the world with views of the highest peaks of the Himalayas. After arriving in Bhutan, you drive to Thimphu, the modern capital of Bhutan. In the evening visit the impressive Trashicho Dzong, the fort where the king sits and monks gather.
Day 2: Discover Thimphu
Today you explore Thimphu. You'll visit the imposing Buddha statue Dordenma with panoramic views of the city, the Memorial Chorten where locals pray and make offerings, and the painting school Zorig Chosum where young artists learn the 13 traditional Bhutanese crafts. You will also see how handmade paper is made and stroll through the lively main street full of stores and tea houses.
Day 3: Thimphu - Punakha via Dochu La pass
You will drive via the Dochu La pass, where on clear days you will have spectacular views of the Himalayas. Punakha, the former capital, is located in a lush valley and has a pleasant climate. You will visit the extraordinary Chimi Lhakhang temple, known as the fertility temple, and the majestic Punakha Dzong, beautifully situated at the confluence of two rivers.
Day 4: Punakha - Paro
Today you continue to Paro, a picturesque valley full of temples and monasteries. You will visit the Kichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest temples, and the National Museum, where you will learn more about the country's rich history and art. The day ends with a visit to a traditional farm, where you will drink yak butter tea with a local family and learn more about daily life in Bhutan.
Day 5: Hike to the legendary Tiger's Nest
Today is scheduled for the iconic hike to the Tiger's Nest monastery, one of the most impressive spiritual sites in the world. The monastery hangs spectacularly against a cliff 900 meters above the valley. The climb takes about 4-5 hours and is rewarded with breathtaking views and a deep connection to the serene atmosphere of this sacred place.
Day 6: Return home or extension
After a final breakfast in Bhutan, drive to Paro airport for your flight to Kathmandu, from where you return home or continue your journey.
