Through the heart of England: London & the Cotswolds

6 Days - 5 Nights

Are you looking for both city and nature? Then a combination of London and the Cotswolds is the right fit for you. Just a two-hour drive from Europe's largest city, you'll find endless green hills and picturesque villages. Picturesque is inevitably the first word that comes to mind, as you will almost feel like you are on a film set in the Cotswolds. Explore the cosy streets of Chipping Campden, discover the Roman spa town of Bath or visit William Shakespeare's birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon. This trip takes you to the heart of England: a primeval British region with southern charm and a unique character.

DAY 1: Arrival in London

You arrive in London the way you like. Do you like to travel in comfort and without worries? Then take the Eurostar and in just two hours of travel you'll be in the heart of the city. Prefer your own car? Then you can also travel very comfortably through the Eurotunnel with Le Shuttle. You will stay two nights at our Caractère hotel in London.

DAY 2: London

No matter how many times you've been to London, this city amazes you every time. From the moment you walk outside your hotel, you'll feel the pulse of one of the world's most vibrant cities. In the vicinity of your hotel you will find some inevitable must-sees, such as Covent Garden and the British Museum. Fancy picking up souvenirs and discovering unique second-hand shops? Then head east to mysterious Shoreditch. If you are a fan of British High Society, Mayfair and Chelsea are the place to be. Then stroll through beautiful Hyde Park and end your day in the cosy district of Kensington with its beautiful, stately avenues.

DAY 3: Depart for Cheltenham

After a restful night's sleep, enjoy another English Breakfast in London. Later that day, it's time to pack your bags and continue your journey. Pick up your (rental) car and head for the Cotswolds, but beware: the British drive on the other side of the road! Fortunately, it only takes a moment to get used to this and the beauty of the English countryside will immediately bring peace. After barely two hours of driving you will find yourself in a completely different world: one of green hills, endless views and village conviviality. You will check into your Caractère hotel and fill in your day as desired. Unwind in the hotel's beautiful gardens, enjoy the spa or explore beautiful Cheltenham. In this surprising town you will find beautiful mansions, several art galleries and impressive parks.

DAY 4: The Cotswolds

Today it's time to discover the typical 'postcard villages' you've come to the Cotswolds for. The question "which village is the prettiest?" is asked a lot, but is impossible to answer. Bourton-on-the-Water, Castle Combe or Stow-on-the-Wold: they each have their own charms and various reasons to go there. Do you have a (rental) car at your disposal? Then venture out for a day to drive through the countryside and discover the region at your own pace. Don't feel like driving yourself? Then go on a Cotswolds tour, the ideal way to get to know some of the region's most beautiful places.

DAY 5: Bath

Bath is a resounding name in England. This elegant spa town, with its meandering canals and imposing houses, dates back to the time of the Romans. Indeed, they loved to relax in the city's hot springs and thermal baths, which were attributed multiple healing properties. Today you can still go and admire the Roman Baths as well as the bustling centre. There is always a lively atmosphere in Bath's cosy streets, with numerous buskers providing a unique ambience. Be sure to stop by The Circus: an impressive piece of Georgian architecture.

DAY 6: Stratford-upon-Avon and going home

Before you return home, one last stop is scheduled in Stratford-upon-Avon. This town is world famous thanks to one particular resident: William Shakespeare. You can still visit his birthplace, as well as do several other activities dedicated to England's greatest writer of all time. Later that day, unfortunately, your trip in the United Kingdom is over. Time to cross back across the channel and return to the mainland with lots of wonderful memories in your pocket. Goodbye England!

Don't feel like going home yet? Visit Stonehenge or one of the other many attractions in this region.
