City trip Florence

Artistic Florence

4 Days - 3 Nights

Do you love Italian art? Then Florence is your place to be. Tuscany's capital is the cradle of the Renaissance. Many of art history's greatest masterpieces are gathered here. Besides culture, Florence also breathes fashion. So be sure to make time for shopping, as the city is known for its leather, gold jewellery and lavish fabrics. The beautiful shopping streets are hard to resist and so are the many terraces, cosy markets, 'trattorie' and restaurants.

DAY 1: UNDERSTANDING THE CITY

If you visit Florence for the first time, you will be overwhelmed by an overdose of timeless beauty. One masterpiece after another passes you by. You walk past magnificent 'palazzi', beautiful squares, magnificent churches and museums. To better understand all this beauty, our guide Sophie takes you on a three-hour walk. She tells you about the Medici family and how they made Florence rich, about the Duomo with its majestic dome by Brunelleschi, about the Piazza della Signoria and Michelangelo's David. She takes you via the Ponte Vecchio, the 'old bridge', to the Palazzo Pitti. This palace was once the home of Eleonora di Toledo and Cosimo I de Medici, who had the Corridoio Vasariano built. This one-kilometre corridor allowed him to get from his home undisturbed to the Palazzo degli Uffizi, his office, and the Palazzo Vecchio, the Ducal Palace.

DAY 2 : GUIDED FOOD TOUR

Foodies get their fill on a guided food tour. A local will take you, in a small group, to sample the city's atmosphere and specialities. You will stop at one of the most beautiful cafés to learn how Florentines eat breakfast. You will visit the Sant'Ambrogio market, where locals buy local products every day and taste Lampredotto, their favourite street food. A typical pasta and an artisanal gelato are of course essential!

DAY 3 : VISIT THE UFFIZI MUSEUM

Art lovers can visit the Uffizi Museum today, accompanied or unaccompanied. We provide the tickets so you don't have to queue. All you have to do is enjoy 13,000 m² of art. The world museum's collection includes thousands of works by great Italian masters such as Botticelli, Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Raffaello, Giotto, Cimabue and Caravaggio.

DAY 4 : GOING HOME

Today you return home with valuable impressions left by the city of the Medicis. Or, you can extend your stay in beautiful Tuscany.
